5. Props
Okay, let’s talk props! I think props can really make or break a newborn shoot. You don’t want to go overboard, but a few well-chosen items can add so much character and charm.
Here’s what I usually consider:
- Baskets and containers: These are great for posing the baby in a cozy, secure way. Just make sure they’re stable and lined with soft blankets.
- Hats and headbands: A cute hat or a delicate headband can add a touch of sweetness. I like to have a variety of styles on hand.
- Blankets and wraps: These are essential for swaddling and creating soft backdrops. Different textures and colors can add visual interest.
- Small toys or stuffed animals: A tiny teddy bear or a wooden toy can be a sweet addition, but keep it simple and avoid anything too distracting.
I always chat with the parents beforehand about their preferences. Do they have a particular theme in mind? Any special items they’d like to incorporate? It’s all about creating a personalized and meaningful experience.
I think it’s also important to remember that the baby is the star of the show. The props should complement, not overshadow, their natural beauty. Less is often more!
